Driving the Length of NY State & Walking the Length of NYC

hey everyone! happy sunday! and a happy one it is in the Julie GoLean household I might add. several reasons. The Giants are winning currently as I type this so Deej is a happy camper, and the Jets are gonna kickoff in just under an hour which gets my adrenaline good and pumpin.

Uh and I found out today? Happy National Popcorn Popping Month! Was this month made for me or what! It's essential for EVERYONE to celebrate it today! Lord knows I will/am right in this moment.
AND not to mention today is also another special holiday. It's my Grammy's birthday! She's such a major stud in my life and you know will be partyin it up for her today ;)

my sis, me, Deej & Gram
(pahlease excuse my ultra and ridiculous blonde hair circa college graduation)

Happy Birthday Gram!

Anyways I'm back from my mini roadtrip with Deej and man can I say it was a whirlwind of a weekend!

Let me just say there was a little bit of Subway, a touch of Dunkin Dizzle, and a whole lotta Starbreezies challenges.

Let me just say Deej and I took the challenge. at every Starbreezies we could possibly hit between here and Oneonta. I walked away a champion with enough coups and free samples to make a poor girl feel rich.

And a ridiculous amount of yummy traffic snacks

Newman's Own never ceases to do wonders for my tastebuds

Deej and I couldn't get enough of these Somersaults. The flavor was insane and it was like a party in my mouth every time I popped one in.

Now originally we were supposed to spend the whole weekend into late Saturday watching my sister play volleyball. When when she hurt her knee Friday night all of that went out the window. She ended up on crutches for all of Saturday and not able to play the remainder of the weekend.

Deej and I were super dissapointed and needed to find something to do while her team finished playing so we could pick her up in the city.

This meant 8 hours of free time.

We decided to explore the little town of Oneonta before making our way back to civilization.

Leave it to the health blogger and her mom to find the Natural Food's store..

Deej knows the way to my heart so we explored the store for a little while and came out with some good loot!
And of course traffic snacks for the ride home.

When you stare at this for 4 hours there's pretty much nothing else to do but eat and take the Starbreezies challenge.

I'm in love with Kay's Protein cereal
and Deej is in love with Root Beer Zevia
to suffice not being able to find apple picking in upstate NY.
is that not an oxymoron or what..
We decided that the best thing for us to do would be to hang out in the city and wait for my sister to get back there, then take her home from there. Instead of driving all the way back to the island and then all the way back to the city to pick her up like an hour later.

Ulterior motive?

you betcha.

brown boxes filled with love make my heart smile. and yours green with envy.

And so after dinner we had too much time to play around with. So what do you do?

Well why not walk from the Bowery to Grand Central.

over 40 blocks in no arch moccasins?
not. a. problem.

I'm happy (or not so happy) to say that Deej and I successfully drove the length of NYS and walked the length of NYC in two days.

did I peel my bootay off the couch today?
nerp.

have a great night guys :)

I'm glad you're all enjoying my little giveaway and you don't even understand how much I'm enjoying your halloween costumes! They're all super hilarious and everytime I get the little email comment I giggle like a crazy person. There's still time to enter!

  1. I am not a fan of driving across lots of nothingness either. I have made that same trip a couple times at least you had a partner in crime.

  2. Popcorn month??? My goodness, did we even need more of an excuse to eat popcorn??? ;)

Aww, sorry to hear about your sis, but it sounds like you had a fun time in the city. What better way to kill some time than to go shopping at a natural foods store!?

    Happy B-day to your grandma!!!

  10. Ironically on this "National Popcorn Popping MOnth" I have burned my popcorn TWICE now! How annoying. Last night I burnt it so bad it set off the fire alarm! Yikes.
Happy Birthday to your grandma! She looks very young. You are lucky!
