Eat For Your Face

I'm pissed. I had my Google Reader it total and complete check last week. Then ONE friggn weekend of a blogging hiatus and it's out the roof again. All that work.

Okay, I'm over it.

Look what I made for dinner last niiiight!

I've been creeping on Janetha's recipes for way too long (actually not even close to long enough) and decided to give her Stoplight Stuffed Peppers a whirly bop on Sunday night.

Mix all the ingreeds in a giant bowl..

Stuff yo peppas peeps..

Cook 'em up and then enjoy.

You see that knife? yeah well consider that a warning to not say anything bad about these babies. because they were a. may. zing. a. ling.

Deej and Van think so too. And Jenna even took one in a little tupperware back to school. 10 bucks her roomies will be jealous.

After dinner I took my bowl of popcorn to go (for real) and joined Deej for a mini roadtrip into Manhattan to drop Jenna back off at school. We were like her professional car service, but I didn't mind as long as I had my cup of joe, my popcorn bowl and some Owl City to jam to.

I had my alarm set for 5:00AM on the dot this morning. I woke up, used the ladies room, and then decided that Monday spin was out. Re-set my alarm clock for 5:38AM and enjoyed a half an hour more of sleep before heading out to the gym.

workout
40 minutes Carrots N Cake Treadmill Workout
  • shoulder flys using 5lb free weights in each hand (3 sets of 1 minute flys) alternating with dumbell skullcrusher using 15lb free weight (3 sets 15)
  • cable chest crossover 15lbs each side (3 sets 15)
  • cable ab twists 15lbs (3 sets 15 each side) alternating with military shoulder press using 12lb free weights (3 sets 15)
At this point I started to get a wretched case of heartburn and my stomach was feeling totally off track. I took a break from the weights and went to jog on the treadmill for 5 minutes at 5.5mph. I got off and tried to do some pushups but felt insanely week. Just totally out of whack. I couldn't go on!

So instead I foam rolled and stretched for a bit and then headed out, slightly dissapointed I didn't get to finish my workout.

Obviously my stomach wasn't freaked out enough to skip breakfast.

This is off the topic of food and fitness for a second but when I was in The Windy City this past summer, my friend and I hit up the Mojo Spa in Wicker Park. It was a great little spa that had plenty of homemade beauty products, as well as spa services in the back. I picked up a jar of the Beach Bum hair styling product and love it! Anyways today I got this email from them about great comfort foods to eat for your skin, and this is what it said:

COMFORT FOOD FOR YOUR SKIN!

November marks the time of comfort food, cold weather, and gratitude. As much as our stomachs crave a change in sustenance, our skin also needs a new routine of nutrients that will protect it from the cold, wind, and snow. These top ingredients in comfort food are not only soothing for your soul; they will also make your skin comfortable and rejuvenated. Here's why:

#1 PUMPKIN

Pumpkin is an amazing beauty ingredient. It contains vitamins A, C, K, and E and is rich in alpha and beta carotene as well as high in potassium, magnesium, zinc, iron, and copper. Pumpkin soothes, moisturizes and intensifies the effectiveness of the other ingredients used all while giving you the comfort you need to feel good.

Mojo Spa's Pumpkin Spice Face & Body Scrub and Pumpkin Spice Body Lotion are back with the fall season to keep you feeling thankful for great skin.

# 2 APPLES

Another great ingredient that embodies the fall is the apple. Apples contain alpha-hydroxy fruit acids that are the greatest for sloughing off old, tired skin and replacing it with renewed cells. The pectin found in apples firms and tightens sagging skin. On top of all this, apples help to heal inflammations and smooth fine wrinkles.

My Shanti Spice Scrub contains real pureed apples to achieve maximum results for tired fall skin.

# 3 CINNAMON

The cinnamon in the Shanti Spice Scrub and lotion really helps to power boost healing by stimulating circulation inside of your body. The combination of cinnamon and ginger keeps you warm from the inside out just like warm apple pie for your skin! The Shanti Spice Scrub and Lotion create comfort, especially for a person like me who gets cold very easily. This line is my most precious product during the cold months here in Chicago.

Just a few small changes to your daily beauty routine and you are on your way to enjoying the all the great things about fall with peace of mind that you look great.

Get Your Mojo On!

Things that were in my oatmeal this morning:
  • 1/3c oats
  • 1/2c canned pumpkin
  • LOTS of cinnamon & stevia
  • 1c water
  • splash of vanilla extract
  • a crispy crisp Honeycrisp apple
  • a large bath of PB2 love.
..guess I got all my skincare needs checked off in one bowl..

Well I'm off to try and finish my arms workout and hopefully get a little yoga in. I've got Whole Foods, Target and a potential Trader Joes trip on the menu for today with a little work thrown in there later. OH and I should probably do some school work today as well..

two VERY important questions today:

1. What skincare products do you use?
I recently tried something new with Target's organic skincare like Botanics and honestly it sucks. I need some help! What are some good but not very expensive organic skincare products that you use! has anyone used Say Yes To Carrots?
2. Give me some new things to try from Whole Foods and Trader Joes! I need some variety people!

thanks guys :) have a good oneee!

I love stuffed peppers! My grandma used to make them the best, so delicious.

I have heard that pumpkin is good for your face, and in fact I made a mask with it once in middle school, at the time I thought it was hilarious. Now I used an olive oil bar of soap from Target actually. I forget the name of the company...it's well known but I'm drawing a blank. I also use Clinique moisturizer.

Try Trader Joe's mini pb cups!! haha, not healthy, but pretty darn good! Also, their light cheese sticks and feta cheese, yum.

The peppers look good. I love when things get stuffed into or back into their original skins! I don't have a skin care plan, and I don't have any real skin problems, but I am sure one day I will from years of not paying attention to it. As for things from TJ's I will tell you the corn salsa I bought was good, and I loved it on top of baked fish, and also the garlic salsa I bought.

I am posting a whole spread of TJs stuff in about an hour. You're in luck :)
Skincare, I have posted this b4 on my bloggie without tons of luck. Organic stuff does not work for me, sadly, for my face. I use Lancome Mousse Radiance and have for yrs. It's chemicals but it works. Period. Little pricey but you cannot put a price on clear, not dry, not greasy skin now can you :)

I like to use Clinique, but I have heard people say that it dries their skin out. Burt's Bees products are awesome, too...
