well i most certainly had not.
so when i received this enormous packet of information on this breakthrough patent pending super-fruit i hit the books.
apparently a maqui superberry is the highest antioxidant superfruit in the world. it's a deeply purpled berry from the Patagonia region, and was traditionally used by the Mapuche Indians for supporting stamina, increasing strength, and promoting a healthy immune system.
also known as turning you from Clark Kent to Superman..or woman.
it arrived on my doorstep in two different forms.
a liquid beverage AND a powder form
Some quick facts:
- highest antioxidant value of any known fruit
- contains high levels of polyphenols and anthocyanins
- organic and naturally pure
- supports healthy inflammatory function
- supports a healthy immune system
- supports healthy aging
- protect cells from oxidative stress
- neutralizes free radicals
- supports cardiovascular health
- excellent source of vitamin c and potassium
...not to mention scaling sky scrapers and lifting 18 wheelers in no time flat.
the other form came in zee powda. same fruit and power provided just in perfect scoop form
the suggested use is to use as a dietary supplement and add 3g (10 calories) or 1 level scoop to 4 oz of water. or you could simply toss a scoop of it into your juice, milk, smoothie, cereal, oatmeal, beer, wine, long island iced tea...whatever your heart desires.
my chosen poison was le water.
my third impression after drinking? hm i'm pretty sure water was a bad choice.
i think that if this was something you wanted to incorporate in your daily diet then adding it to your green monster or oatmeal is a GREAT option. with water? it's um interesting. and by interesting i mean find a different way to enjoy it.
on the bright side?
holy energy. i felt a-maze after drinking it and contemplated for a second skipping coffee.
but who am i kidding. coffee runs through my veins.
i hope you all learned a little about the highest antioxidant superfruit in zee world and that if you see it and decide to pick it up just know that you may or may not find yourself suddenly going from the 5lb weights to the 105lb weights.
what's your favorite fruit?

Interesting products! I've never heard of this super fruit. Favorite fruit? I can only pick one??? Oh gosh...I just can't do it- for everyday- love apples, summer- love cantaloupe, also am a huge papaya and pineapple fan.
Woah, so interesting! I am down for anything that gives me an energy boost so it seems like a really interesting product to try out.
Ugh, favorite?? Hmmm...probably blueberries if I really had to break it down. They are so good alone and in anything!
I think that Crofter's superfruit jam line is maquai based....thanks for the review and don't study too hard!
PS...Fresh, ripe pineapple is my fave fruit!
Interesting. As an RD I can say i have never heard of this fruit. The claims make me a little uneasy as I always like to read peer reviewed lit and often I don't see that with those supps. I usually say can't hurt might help when it comes to that stuff. My fave fruit it kiwi. I could eat kiwi all day long and in fact on my honey moon I almost did one day.
I love apples, but this sounds interesting. I'm been dragging in energy maybe this would help?
Interesting. This sounds like another acai berry scheme to me! No offense. But I've been taking nutrition classes for 5 years and have never heard of this "miracle berry". Perhaps it was a placebo effect? Who knows. My favorite fruit is blueberry, apple (yeah, apples, i know, so sad), and pomegranate now!
Thanks for introducing me to this, either way, it's good to learn about these things.
dude! I just samp'd this stuff and had the SAME thoughts. Can I just copy and paste your review to my page ;) kidding.. except not really ;) ha!

Girl, vitamin C, oranges, zinc from your leafy greens, sleep, clean water...H1N1 doesnt stand a chance :)
Agreed ... in oats it's not bad but drinking it ... not so much! ha.
The superfruit sounds intriguing! I wonder how it'd taste in yogurt? I'm a coffee addict, though ;) My favorite fruit... ohh I love so many! Maybe apples? I love bananas, and pineapple!
Hmmm...grape juice? I like grape juice! Maybe I can get some of this and put it in a wine glass for a good fakeout ;)
hahaah coffee runs through my veins-my words exactly!! thanks for the review :) I wonder how it would be in yogurt or mixed in cottage cheese?!?
Krofter does use Maqui in one of there products.......Maqui is new to the United States but the Mapuche Indians have used it for several hundred years as a food supplement and administered by the Machi's who are the Mapuche women that practice traditional health care.
Fav. fruit is the only fruit I eat - APPLES :D
I hope your presentation went well!! Thanks for filling me in on Superman's Secret!
