WORLD CHAMPION!

I bet you thought I was gonna say something about the Yankees.

not this time.

the World Champion here is ME.

::cue We Are The Champions song::

Thanks to ALL of your wonderful amazingly awesome advice, my first bowl of oat bran was the equivalent to winning the World Series.

say whaaaat?

check it.volumptious

old fashioned oats see ya lata.

Being that I was never a "cook your oats on the stovetop girl" (mainly because I'm afraid of the stovetop, don't ask) and also that I was never an "oat bran" girl. I decided that since my awesome and easy-peezy 4.25mi treadmill run this morning put me in a chipper mood, that I would in fact tackle two of my fears this morning.

And so I conquered stove top oat bran.

I simply put 1 cup of water on the stove top and let it come to a boil, then I added in:
1/3c oat bran
a crap load of cinnamon
stevia & NuNaturals vanilla drops.

Now don't get me wrong, I was freaking nervous the entire time and when the oat bran was a bubblin I for sure thought I did it wrong and that my kitchen was going to explode. I stirred the pot like a mad man and left the stove ONLY to get the canned pumpkin out of the fridge (I was mad I hadn't had it prepared and out ahead of time). I plopped 1/3c canned pumpkin in the pot and continued to stir like there was no tomorrow.

It was bubbling and I was so afraid.

Oh have mercy. I took the oats off and let them sit for a few minutes while I chopped up my apple and made my PB2 drizzagle status.

And I was so proud of myself I even sliced up a quarter of a banana on top.

Oat bran, you are in like flin.

Next time I'm thinkin a little less water and a little more stevia. love you sweet thang.

I enjoyed my oat bran (probably too much then a person really should) with a cup x2 of my new Trader Joe's Wintry Blend coffee.

I had in my mind that I wouldn't open this until I finished my other coffee. But it was a celebratory morning and so I broke it open.

I'm not good with the "guess the spices" game but I do know that this was delicious and smooth yet still bold. Perfect for a cold, wintry morning. Or just an early fall, pretty gloomy morning.

Either way, it's good.

I'm off to school for the day/night! have a GREAT day friends :)

What are your weekend plans?

I'm glad you didn't take the opportunity to totally rub in the fact that the Yankees won...

Ah, that looks good and I have some oat bran hanging around (when used in muffins it is super tasty too). I just need to get some bananas when they get in. As strange as that sounds the commissary shipment comes once a week with produce and there are no more bananas. Of course I can always try the local market, but I happened to have been on base and was therefore shopping around there.

As for weekend plans, Ryan has a 3 day weekend, so we are hanging out, making breads, maybe hiking if the weather holds out and maybe even snorkeling if the weather is good too. Oh and some movie watching!

Question, does that coffee "stink up" your coffee pot so that subsequent pots all taste like peppermint?! I was gonna buy it but thought better of it b/c although i love p'mint once in a blue moon, i dont want the next 9 pots of coffee to taste minty/wintery blend. Any 411 on that my love would be appreciated!

Congrats on your Yankees haha. I will admit that they are my 2nd favrorite team after Phillies so I am not totally devastated. The oats look great! I need to be brave and try stove top one of these days too!.

I just love experimenting with new breakfasts! When I find the time, I always try to think of new ways to enjoy my favorites. :)

LOVE the sound of that coffee. I am the same way that I can never pick out the right names of flavors in coffee. Good and Bad / Medium and Bold just about does it for me. Haha, my mom asked how I liked one coffee I tried last week and I told her that "it tasted like mustard." Yeah... ;)

Haha, I'm proud of you! Way to conquer the stovetop oats :D They really are much better than microwaved oats. The coffee sounds delish, too. My moms coming this weekend and I'm super excited :)
