What To Do When You're Snowed In

hey friends!

i took a nice
blogcation yesterday in honor of the blizzard because hey a girl can't let a little snow keep her from her priorities.

i was talking to deej yesterday about how much i LOVE lists. i think if i could i would put everything in life in list form.

ex:
1. wake up
2. brush teeth.
3. put dad's dirty spoon that he always leaves on the counter in the sink
4. make cawfee..

you get the picture.

anyways i think today i'll provide you with a list for the top 10 things you must do in case you get a blizzard this winter.

1. eat breakfast. well duh that's a given but this breakfast is exceptional and i'm pretty sure if the world was coming to an end i would stop and make time for this bowl of oat bran

1/3c oat bran, 1/4c canned pumpkin, 1 2/3c water mounds of cinnamon&ppie spice, vanilla extract, 1/2 frozen banana, lots of pb2 puddlez,
and the real banger?
1/4c liquid egg whites stirred in last minute while on low heat.

even in natural disasters it's important to fill your belly with food love. no?

2. enjoy a sewious case of doms (delayed onset muscle soreness) from the previous day's killer legs workout.

30 minutes elliptical interval sesh

circuit 1; 3 times through
  • step ups 15 reps each leg, 10lb free weights each hand
  • dumbell squat and press 15 reps, 15lb freeweight
  • v-ups 25 reps
circuit 2; 3 times through
  • leg press 15 reps, 50lbs, 60lbs, 70lbs
  • good mornings 15 reps, 30lb barbell
  • straight leg romanian deadlifts 15 reps, 30lb barbell
circuit 3; 3 times through
  • sumo squat & leg lift 12 reps each leg, 15lb bodybar on back
  • quadruped hip extensions 15 reps each leg, 4lb free weight in leg
  • plank 1 minute hold

3. go to work, get stood up, spend more money then you made and enjoy hot coffee while tweeting your hatred for snow.

4. go on a road trip!
naturally when there's a blizzard warning for your area, the first thing on your list of things to do is drive right into it!

so when deej asks you to accompany her to be the prince to your sister's Rapunzel you go.

5. just make sure to bring proper traffic snacks..

steamed broccoli & cauliflower with mon favourite tjs mustard spread

6. and of course allow your mom & driver to buy you lunch

dunkin donuts turkey sausage egg white flat sammie
eh! wouldn't be my first choice but it'll do in a pinch.

7. get a pedicure.
because when the world stops due to a 20 inch snow threat and you're feet will be stuck in your timberlands for the next 3 weeks it's natural to want your toes to look good.

8. cuddle up with hugh jass and b nutty.
they may not be able to shovel snow but they sure know how to make a girl say "mmmm."

ensalada with the works (aka every veggie in your crisper), some cottage cheese & tjs white bean & basil hummus, with a perfectly cinnamoned mug of tjs reduced sodium butternut squash soup.

9. don't bake. just end the night with the only thing you need in life.

airpopped popcorn sprinkled with cinnamon+stevia
x2? sure, why not.

10. rock out to michael buble 30 seconds before hitting the hay.

hope you enjoyed my list :) i enjoyed all of the activities duh.

what's on your list of must do things in case of blizzards slash natural disasters?

I live in Canada so it has to be a serious amount of snow for everything to close or to be declared a snow day.
If I know it's going to be really bad, I go to the liquore store and the grocery store. In that order lol

Hey! Not sure if you got my email. I was wondering where you buy your pb2? In stores, online, in bulk? I've been dying to try it!

Oh yah- road trips are always a fabulous idea in a blizzard ;). Love the idea of the veggies with the delicious mustard. The real natural disaster threat down here is hurricanes. I'd def road trip before that one, to far far away ;)

I am just like you, all about the lists! I makes lists all day long, it's almost ridiculous. Everyone keeps saying, "why don't you just use your iPhone or computer"...but I like to write things down, and cross them off :)

I like that you add egg whites to your oats, I've never thought about that. I think I've seen you do that before, but I just bought some egg whites in a carton and I should try that.

Blizzard = stay inside and watch tv and read. We never get blizzards (well, rarely) so I don't know what else I would do, besides watch in awww.

the steamed broccoli & cauliflower with mon favourite tjs mustard spread looks amazing. i dont like garlic, but i do love mustard. hello new idea...thank you!!!!!!

the stevia and cinny on the popcorn. White powdered stevia I would presume rather than liquid stevia drops? I have litearlly squirted agave on my popcorn but never stevia powder. i should try it!

And the snowing in stuff. Girl, grew up in MN then chicago. I remember that un fondly. hang in tehre but looks like you're doing great!

I just posted about making lists. I loveeee them.

My snow/blizzard/snow day happenings are most often TV online, Netflix and sitting on my butt...which is happening right now...

Nice blizzard must dos. Mine is walk to blockbuster just before they close. And while you are at it stop by a grocery store and walk home with everything. Totally did that once in college. Insane idea at 11 pm in a blizzard in Allentown PA. Stay warm!

OMG, I am such a list maker! And this list is definitely up my ally. I couldn't agree with you more about the pedicure... who knows when those toes will need to look fabulous for the hot and sexy rescue workers who get us out of the snow storm! ;)

Blizzards usually require pajamas and lots of movie watching. The toe thing reminds me of the underwear thing - you should always look nice incase you get in an accident and people may see them!

Hope you survive your snow storm!! PS. have you seen your EC lately? I was wondering what happened after you found out about the no-go issue.

Yeah it's always a good idea to hit up the g-store before a nasty storm. I know you said "don't bake" but that's prob my favorite thing to do when I get snowed it. That and making "everything but the kitchen sink soups".

If we think we're gonna get snowed in we make sure to have lots of movies (cuz the satelite is sure to go out), games and books on hand. Plus copious amounts of hot chocolate for after we've decided it would be a good idea to go toboganing in it!!
