Happy Rejuvination Day!

we’re almost there! 2010 is literally right around the corner and we can say peace out 09.

i always feel a little sense of relief when it’s time for a new year. kind of like a fresh start, no?

speaking of fresh start. yesterday i won’t lie was a rough one. going to spin was probably a not great idea and i was feeling the wrath of it for the remainder of the day.

an attempt at lunch for a sass-a-frass killa was made.

1/2c cottage cheese+garlic powder+pepper, broccoli slaw, broccoli, b sprouts, green peppas, yellow zukes, & tjs garlic mustard. along with a laughing cow and some home made pita chips.

i’m happy to say that my attempt to survive the day cawfeeless was a major fail and shortly after lunch i whipped up a batch of gingerbread cawfs and sliced myself a gala. with hopes of double caffeineation.  .

did you know that munching on an apple provides you with the same kind of caffeine awake feeling that a cup of coffee does? i learned myself this during a summer of boring internship desk sitting.

and then i proceeded to do nothing, along with more nothing, and a little bit more of nothing. all while my two brothers watched 3 hours of rap videos.

i made dinner to bring to work only to find that my first client cancelled. so what’s a girl to do?

i’m happy to say that i officially obtained the fiber requirements for one person in 2009 in one day. done.

a hugh jass with the works, lc swiss, cedars red pepper hummus, sliced turkey & newmans own hot hot hot salsa.

today i’ll tackle 2010’s fiber requirements and get that out of the way.

and then i hit up work. talked to some clients, got my weight loss thang going on and headed home. after a long or stressful day it was necessary to fill my belly with my one true love.PC302621

can you believe i hadn’t had popcorn since last wednesday! i know i know get out defibulator.

i thought sleep was a good idea at that point.

as i’m typing this i’m thinking this post is whack today. i promise to be less boring and mundane in 2010. it’s my vow to you. i can’t promise this blog will have any point to it yet.

enter sigh of refreshment. i got a whole 8 hours of sleep last night and woke up ready for actione this morning.

enter gym creep:

gym creep: “excuse me miss can you do me a favor?”

me: as i take my headphones out “uhh okay..what?”

gym creep: “i need to take a picture of myself to send to someone, when you get a chance could you do that for me”

me: i’m thinking i left my camera at home.. “uh sure?”

so i finish my set and go over to where he is. he hands me his phone with the camera all set up and proceeds to sit like the atlas man with his muscles flexed creep smiling at the camera.

me: i take the photo (as my gym reputation slowly dwindles) “uh it came out blurry”

gym creep: “dang. it’s probably the lighting. alright alright thanks ma”

me: holy crap i need to get out of here.

and then i walk out into this.

sleep through spin. …or don’t…

i’m so glad you liked my 2010 (i just typed 2009) “no-so-marriage-vows” i worked really hard on them and would have been devastated if you thought they were no mas. you’re too good to me.

last night the besties and i got together for a little belated christmas celebration. also known as gossip, vent and a little exchangage of gifts. i love them both and am happy to report that my sugar cookie smelling skin will be forever drinking starbucks via and eating gluten free cookies.

before i left i threw back a wittle of dis and a wittle of dat for suppah.

sweet potato drenched in fage 2%+cinnamon en somee steamed veggies mixed with laughing cow & mustard. i know you weird julie but it tastes so good when it hits the lips.

(by the way i just typed “potatoe” and i’m so glad i’m not the only one out there who will not qualify for next year’s national spelling bee)

i really just wanted to use my new bowl. santa made a stop at marshalls home section before visiting my house

and then off to xmas i went! it was so good to hang with my lovers but i didn’t get home until 11PM and my alarm was set for 5AM.

and so 6AM spin mixed in with the inability to fall asleep thus stationary biking on about 4 hours of sleep may or may not have been the greatest worst idea ever. i looked like the bride of Frankenstein trying to leave her husband on a stationary bike.

not to mention i felt like death. way to go ra-tard. and then my weaksauce body attempted to lift some weights.

and then i came home and did what anybody would do. or not.

i. went. back. to. bed. ultimate fail.

actually i attempted to go back to sleep and just ended up laying in the warmth of my bed for about 45 minutes. and when my stomach yelled at me i ignored and continued laying and laying. until finally i gained the energy to turn on the stove.

1/3c oatbran, 1 2/3c water, 1/4c canned pumpkin, cinnamon, stevia & nunaturals vanilla, 1/2 banana, 1/4c egg beaters & 1tbsp naturally maaaw.

…but really i just fell asleep in my breakfast.

maybe i should shower now? or is this just an excuse to sleep..

for the record i’m currently using windows live writer on my sister’s computer and i’m wondering why in the world i hadn’t used this before. finding this and putting it on my computer is tres tres tres neccessaire.

blogging just got about 96% easier.

i can’t wait to hit my 2PM wall. any volunteers to bring me some cawfee..

no? fine. we’re still friends.

there’s also a very good possibility that in reality i’m still sleeping and this is all a dream.

i was so rude yesterday and didn’t ask you what your 2010 not-so-marriage-vows are! so share them now.

…another one of mine should be “don’t try and be funny on 4 hours of sleep.”

thoughts on 2009? well since 2009 is coming to an end i thought i would ring in the new year which is oh-so close with my 2010 vows. they're not resolutions or really goals. more of just a "wanna-be witty" things i should continue to do in 2010.

...or may be just a copout post to avoid long paragraph writing..

my 2010 not-s0-marriage-vows

1. i vow to never shop in a mall the same week that every single person on long island has off.

2. i vow to forever bring traffic snacks wherever i go.

3. i vow to continue to take pictures of my snacks even when little girls sporting leggings and uggs on the F21 line wonder what's so great about a key lime larabar.

...if only they knew.

4. i vow to never go on a date with a dude that looks like this..

5. but potentially go on a date?

6. i vow to continue to allow deej & van to buy me dinner..

7. ...and reep the benefits of living at home while i still can

...and to never stop lovin seaweed salad.

8. i vow to continue to eat endless amounts of brown rice sushi


and to reap the benefits of being a "regular.."

9. i vow to work on my photography skillz

10. i vow to continue to only buy the greek yogurt that's on sale

The Monday Slugs

good mawwwnin or afternoon or evening..

i guess pending on when you read or i hit publish..

anyone else feeling the major monday slugs? today is for sure one of those days where you just "go through the motions"

sidenote. whenever i use quotations i can't help but think of the friends episode where joey uses them in all the wrong places. no?

riiight.

last night was a rough night in the golean household. deej was angry and i was happy! you see i guess she'll have to be a jets fan for the remainder of the season..

and so deej's mood on sunday's usually reflects our dinner options. her broken heart resulted in a leftovers night. i was sick of all of our holiday food and i wasn't even really that hungry so i went with exactly what i wanted.

cottage cheese + cinnamon in a sweet potato, salad with goddess & laughing cow on the side

by the way i suck
at spelling "potato" everytime i go to type it i always add an "e" at the end.

and then came the boredom. i had nothing to do! my google reader was at 0. i had no desire to be on the computer anymore and tough love was a repeat.

...doesn't steve know i need my weekly lesson.

and so what does a bored girl do on a sunday night? duh. go to bed.

i was up an at 'em this morning for 6am spin. i won't lie i contemplated getting back into my r.e.m. but then checked my laziness at the door.

spin was good! she kept it pretty basic because of a bunch of newbies in the class but none the less it was a good class.

  • 21s 3 sets (20lb bar) superseded with bent over rever flys 3 sets 15 (5lb free weights each hand)
  • suspine hammer curls & bicep curls 3 sets 10 each (10lb free weights) superseded with reverse grip bent over rows 3 sets 12 (30lb bar)

and then i stretched for ev er.

literally i think i laid there for atleast 20 minutes. i'm surprised someone didn't come over to make sure i was still alive..

i made a solid attempt to deslug my attitude but even a shower and sporting my new jets gear wouldn't wake me up.

let's try a new breakfast no?

i wish i could take the credit for putting laughing cow on top of peanut butter. but i must give credit where credit is deserved and it was actually one of my clients, suki who gave me the idea. hi suki! (sometimes she reads but lucky girl is in haiti for 3 weeks.)

anyways this combo was so good. try it. i double dog dare you.

santa was good to me.

i want to start collecting these wherever i go (not that i ever travel..).

i just wish i thought of that back when i was in chicago this summer. fail. guess that means i'll have to go back ;)

alright well i'm off to find a solution to the monday slugs. any suggestions?

The GoLean Christmas 09

hi friends!

whew! i took a few days off from blogging but now i'm back in action. i promise you this won't be a crazed post because i've got to get my game face on for the jets game in a few. but i mainly just wanted to see how YOU were doing and share a few pictures of our xmas feast.

deej and i were slaves to the christmas holiday and did not leave the kitchen from christmas eve till christmas day eve. we wanted to make sure everyone had bellies full of food.

christmas morning started off right with a holiday plate of english muffin with pb2 icing and an apple on the side.
i needed proper fuel for my unwrapping gifts and cooking workout.

and then the christmas cookoff 2009 began.

not before snapping a lovely shot of the pre sass-a-frass golean girls.

and then

there

was

food. there was lemon-garlic shrimp & vegatables over whole wheat linguini

and janetha's sweet potato and goat cheese gallette (say that three times fast)


there was whole wheat stromboli and a hugh jass salad (duh).

and a big ole ham.

and grammy's top secret nut bread and spanish vegetable.

my platelittle bit o errrrythang.

always time for kitchen snapshots.

grammy's "i'm not sharing my recipes" grin.

btw thats my older bro. it's rare he makes an appearance. too cool for school with his cit cit citay life.

you like my game day gear no? another kudos to my gram-cakes ;)

and shortly after dinner came the dessert preparation.

jenna helped out a bit..

slicing apples for deej's infamous apple pie.

there was much cookies to be had.

what is it about christmas and cookies?

mint chocolate chip-oat cookies, holiday M&M chocolate chip cookies, tina's peppermint bark cookies & cranberry chocolate clusters.

there was a death by pistachio & angel food cake parfait

along side scandalous store bought rainbow cookie cake and a cheesecake from waldbaums that deej claimed was the best she ever had.

above all there was family fun and delicious food. could a girl ask for anything more?

nah.

i wish! i had more pictures of the holiday but i guess every chef has to make sacrafices.

ha. ha.

Zee Bakeathon '09

hi friends :)

super snappy post right here because this little blogger has got to get her hands and knees deep in dough today!

and not to mention i still haven't cleaned my room yet. fail.

i "slept in" a little today and set my alarm for 6:15. that way i could get to the gym and get a good pre christmas eve and day session in to offset all the treats that will find their way into my mouth over the next 24 hours.

a good shoulders workout was on the menu today along with a little abs thrown in. so i served it up.

20minutes ellipticizing

circuit 1: 3 times through
  • lever lat raise i used free weights instead (12 reps, 10lb free weights)
  • seated shoulder press (15 reps, 20lb bodybar)
  • crunches 25
  • reverse crunches 25
circuit 2: 3 times through
20minutes ellipticized hill climb.

and then it was home to devour my gloriously glorious premade breakfast.


oh how i love fage.

and oats.

and vanilla protein powder.

and apples.

you get the picture.

maybe santa will bring me new breakfast ideas?

i also love you.

and i'm here to mainly wish you a WONDERFUL holiday.

i hope you eat everything and fill your bellies with lots of love and lots of food.

Catch Me Ridin Durty

hi pals!

i'm squeezin in a little post here before i head upstairs to get my reorganizista on up in my room. it for sure needs a good sweepage and i think i'll feel like a buck fifty if i can get 'er done.

remember last wednesday or don't when i was complaining slash raving about the new wednesday 6am instructor? yeah well one of the only reasons i got up this morning was because i knew i was in for a good spin class.

wanna how i felt this morning after a not so hot sleep?


that's me falling asleep in my glass of emergen-c.

i can't believe i shared that.

anyways so i get to spin this morning and i go to put my water bottle on my bike. obvi some biotch doesn't know i'm a regular and she took my bike. her and her whack @$$ newbie friend.

nuh uh. homie don't play like that.

AND THEN while i'm searchin for a good working bike that will fit me in walks this new instructor. and i wish i wish i wish i had a video of her for you. she walks in with a man-deep voice instructing everyone to get on their bikes for the "ride of their lives"

i wanted to not like her. she repeated the same thing over and over and over again. and the entire class she would shout cowboy slogans like "heyyoo" and "yeeeehawww" and "owwww" and "yippeee"

i kid you not.

and then i quote she goes in her ever so ladylike man voice "yeah i don't stretch before class people so if you wanna do that well go 'head do it on your own. you just came in from the freezing cold weather and you know what happens when you put a rubber band in a freezer? it snaps"

..and then she cackles like a witch...

but 60 minutes and 10,000 cackling "yeehaws" later i felt the burn. so i thanked her for a good class and went on my way.

i still miss the instructor from last week. she promised us a "christmas ride" and i was looking forward to riding on rudolph not mr ed.

i didn't shower before breakfast. so unlike me. but i was SO hungry when i got home.

for those of you that are concerned i have made the switch to green tea in the morning. i wanted to kick my addiction but don't worry because this just means i get my caffeine addiction later in the day. like when i hit my 2pm wall.

anyways after hating on the jonas brothers and doin the steve ward thang deej commanded me out of the house ever so promptly to run some errands with her.

and no. there was no time for shower. so unlike me. and also so gross? yep.

so ooot and abooot we went!

enough. xmas. shopping already.

lord & taylor, tjs, dolla store oh ya know the ujjj. anyways by the time i got home my stomach was ever so angry at me.

and so i got to work no stoppin this girl.

cottage chee + broccoli slaw + bsprouts + red peppers + yellow zukes + cedars garlic&chive humdiddy + santa barbaras peach mango salsa + tjs mini pitas = perfection.

sayin yummy equals happy tummy.
