now even though by the looks of my last post, you could assume that deej and i always get along. well just like any other mother-daughter relationship, that’s definitely not true.
in fact one of our very frequent “summer fights” involves me sneaking in the house after working, quietly removing the pans from the stove and hitting “speed-bake 475”
deej doesn’t like this idea. at all. she thinks that if it’s 475 degrees outside then it should not be 475 degrees inside.
…i guess she’s right..,
sh! don’t tell her i said that ;)
but asking a veggie addict to stop roasting her veggies just because it’s summer is the equivalent to asking heidi montag to stop getting plastic surgery just because it’s expensive.
deej’s proposed solution?
“grill them bitches.”
haha she didn’t really say that. it was more like “put them on awn the baaabequeeee”
really? but. like. how?
“turn the grill on. put the pan of vegs on the grill. close the grill. wait inside in somewhat cooler house”
b-cued veggies. so hot right now.
ergo for lunch i put the cue to work and enjoyed a side of crispy veggies along with a honey wheat arnolds thin a-topped with cottage cheese mixed with cinnamon, stevia & nutmeg
the veggies enjoyed a duo of tribe hummus for dippage. like the scallion. love the horseradish.
let’s rewind to this morning. because breakfast on the other hand? not nearly as successful as lunch.
probably because it didn’t involve the cue.
i had the day off from work today so i could finish my final paper for the online class i’ve been taking so i was able to sleep a tad later then usual. my body alarm clock had me up about a half hour before my actual alarm clock was set and so i slowly and i mean slowly moseyed my way over to the gym
i was so not feeling the gym today and i took my time doing everything.
i started off with 40 minutes on the amt trainer switching up the resistances between 8 and 10.
my heart rate monitor told me i was maxing my heart rate out at 235.
me thinks it was lying to me
i lifted some chest & tris and eventually made my way home. after looking at my watch i realized i had been there almost an hour and a half! i wasn’t even into my workout and just kind of slowly did everything.
this hour and a half gave me ample time to consider what i wanted for breakfast.
eventually i decided to try my hand at some pancakes.
key word being try.
what is it about the first couple of pancakes always being an ultimate fail! by the time the pancakes get their groove there’s no batter left.
strawberry protein pan-crepes with vanilla frosting:
- 1/3c wheat bran
- 4 extra large egg whites
- 2 1/2tbsp canned pumpkin
- 1 tbsp greek yogurt
- 3 tbsp chilled coffee
- 1/2tsp cream of tartar
- 1/4tsp baking powder
- cinnamon, stevia & vanilla extract
when most of my pancakes that failed to fluff up were plated i whipped up a batch of protein icing using 1 serving of mrm metabolic whey and about 1 1/2tbsp of water, topped it off with about 1/2c of sliced strawberries and a drizzle of sugar free chocolate syrup.
in essence they were delicious. but i won’t lie i just wished they were fluffy!
i’m happy to report that with proper caffienation and ultimate focus i banged out my final paper in a mere 5 hours.
celebratory whole foods dinner? you. bet. your. booty ;)
looks like i wasn’t the only one in need of a dunkin d iced cawf today..
get in my belly whole foods hot bar.
1. now that school is over i’m ready to get my face in some good beach reads! any recommendations?
2. how do i get my pancakes fluffy?
