look how cool this is that i saw first thing today when i opened up the facebook.
kind of crazy to think that a year ago i was still in school. now i’m just too cool for skool
apparently irene wasn’t too cool for grammy’s garage though.
insert tree into garage.
jack climbing the tree into her garage. i always knew he was a monkey of a kid..
crazy, no? it’s a good thing we were prepared
last night while i was lying on the floor with my feet up on a chair
back pain reducer recommended by anonymous
Glad you made it through the hurricane. Regarding you back, lie on the floor with your calves resting on a chair. Make sure your legs make a 90 degree angle with the floor. Like a table top position. Lie there for as long as you want (15-20 min). It totally takes my back pain away.
thank you anonymous! you’re too smart to be a secret.
i had two thoughts:
1. why in the world am i not using my foam roller to kick some of this back pain in the butt
2. why in the world does britney look so scared of gaga..
and so i separated myself from the wretched s-show of the vma’s and sprinted upstairs to grab my foam roller.
i spent the rest of the night (and the horrendous ‘award’ show) lying on my foam roller with my feet in the air on the chair.
when i got up to get into bed, i felt like a MILLION bucks. like beyond a million. gazillion, perhaps?
it was at that moment that i decided i would get my face into a bikram class this morning
i was going to do everything in my power to get my back back in action
now you’re probably thinking, uh julie..don’t you have to be at work?
well, yes. BUT i took a vacation day today originally because we were supposed to be on a girl’s trip to baltimore. but damn irene ruins everything, so i rolled with my day off anyways
this morning after a glorious sleep, i woke up, beamed out of bed, brewed some coffee and had a simple and so unlike me pre-bikram breakfast
a 5-egg white omelet (with cinnamon, apples & goat’s milk cream cheese in the middle), ezekiel toast with almond butter & jelly, and a gala apple
i was having an ‘i’m so over oatmeal’ moment and this breakfast his spot on
plus it didn’t leave me with a pre-yoga brick in my stomach
a little digestion, a little emailing, & a little foam rolling and i was out the door on my way to stretch in the heat.
i double scored on the 30 consecutive days of yoga for $30 bucks ‘beginner’ deal because i hadn’t been in so long.
i’m ultra excited for this because now i can incorporate some good & schweaty yoga sessions in my life for the next month.
90 minutes later i was a schweaty & well streched biotch
the smart cookie i was i grabbed a vitamin water before leaving the house to replace some long lost electrolytes that had just been lost.
ahh so refreshing. and a good flavor too!
the hawt hawt yoga did my back some wonders, but did my growling tummy some unwonders so i beasted it home and threw together the quickest thing i could get my face into
a perfect protein smoothie was the answer to all of my problems
- vanilla almond milk
- chilled coffee
- isopure strawberries & cream protein powder
- dry oats & oat bran
- stevia, guar gum & cinnamon
blend baby blend. i guzzled half the smoothie, threw the other half in the freezer, showered & then came down to finish the rest along with a big ole bowl of steamed broccoli, mushrooms & tomatoes
topped off with nutritional yeast, walnut oil, mustard & a little drizzle of trader joe’s raita dip
now i’m off to do who knows what!
maybe test drive some cars, perhaps a nice walk down at the beach to see the irene damage, maybe a mani, or perhaps i’ll just hang tight for the day.
out like kraut people!
love to love you <3
cawfee tawk! have you ever taken bikram yoga before? do you practice yoga, or not? what are your favorite classes, or do you hate yoga? i’m a yoga-phaser. i really love bikram because i leave with the sweaty endorphins but i usually go through phases of it, plus it can get expensive! i can always tell when i’m in need of a good stretching session and bikram usually does the trick!
