is it friday yet?
a peak into my sunday…
apparently they pay me enough to have me wear a dorothy costume on a sunday.
i kept it long island but trading ruby slippers for brown uggs.
they can take the girl outta long island but they can’t take the long island outta the girl
i traded toto for a bowl of peanut butter laden egg white oats and spent the day manning the raffle table at our big homecoming celebration.
toto, i don’t think we’re in kansas
and now i regret to say that it’s back to the grind.
but coming home to a big honkin’ salmon salad made the 10+ hours on my feet and hour & a half commute home all worth while
kale, butternut squash, & salmon baked in dijon mustard, olive oil, fresh basil & chili powder, dressing of sesame oil, lime juice & balsamic vinegar
the highlight of my day being breakfast as always
i’ve been running low on my protein powder stash lately, and wanted to look into trying a new type of protein.
i’ve used everything from low carb isopure strawberries and cream, low car isopure cookies & cream, optimum nutrition in banana cream or vanilla ice cream, true protein in birthday cake & chocolate
but lately the artificial sweeteners or something in the proteins have been giving me bad stomach problems, so i decided to go a different route
i’ve actually been waiting to do a ‘make your own’ protein since i saw therese and so i knew that as soon as my stash was depleting i was going to go that route
i used the site true protein and after following a few short/easy steps & $26 (including shipping/handling) came this baby to my door step
a 2lb tub of protein blend:
- 25% whey protein concentrate
- 25% egg white protein
- 50% gemma protein peat isolate non-GMO
vanilla sweetened with stevia (all-natural) and a plastic jug with *free scoop* for $0.75 extra (<—i splurged!)
& it had great stats too!
the cost of the protein wasn’t bad AT ALL. for my home made blend it was $6.73/lb, i got 2lbs because well 1lb would be done in like 30 seconds. and then i added in the scoop/tub for $0.75.
shipping costs was really what jacked up the price, but in my opinion it was a great deal
i was nervous about this for several reasons, being that i’ve never tried egg white or pea protein before and i had no idea what the combination, flavor or texture was going to be like
my top favorite use for protein is in oatmeal in the morning, so i was pretty amped to try it today. last night i made standard protein oats just by cooking 1/3c oat bran with 2.5 cups of water and mixing in a scoop of my personal protein blend
left it in the fridge overnight uncovered and then slapped on 2 tsp of chunky whole foods 365 brand peanut butter in the morning.
verdit? AMAZING. seriously i would order this again in a heartbeat. probably a different flavor the next time, but vanilla was a great start. it had a great flavor, mixed fabulously
i will be a frequent flyer here for sure.
(note this was done on my own money, own terms & own opinion!) <--- which is probably all that matters anyway ;)
how was your weekend?
love to love you <3
cawfee tawk! where do you get your protein powder from/favorite go-to brand? have you ever made your own like this?
