happy sunday folks!
this weekend has just be glorious
i’ve been able to destress, relax a little, have some fun and find time for me
and of course breakfast
egg white oats with a gala apple, cocoa powder & ground flaxseed
during our walk it was fun to reflect on what was going on this time last year
this time last year i was stressing about finishing my thesis, deej was stressing about being fun-employed & a lot of other things were going on
today we are all in a much better place
i am happily employed, graduate degreed & moving forward with my life, lots of changes, fun things happening and meeting new people
deej is employed, happy, & looking gorgeous
it’s fun to see the way things can change!
doesn’t deej look cute!
yesterday i was the lucky lady to be her plus one to a saturday afternoon baby shower
it was a co-ed luau themed party in the rooftop party room of the allegria hotel
i had no problem hopping right into the theme.
i sported cropped light blue high-waisted pants from zara with a skinny brown belt & a floral button down from j-crew. & just because i left the first three buttons open, because you know just in case a single lady meets a single person at a baby shower?
anyways. the view was gorgeous it was on the rooftop in a room with all windows overlooking the beach & the ocean. deej & i hit the bar and the apps x10,000 and found the prime spots in the middle of the room to chat with her people & hang out
guacamole, fresh fruits & vegetables, an open bar, shrimp cocktail & passed snacks x1,000
it hardly seemed like a baby shower, and was quite the lovely way change of speed for a saturday afternoon
speaking of change.
on a whim yesterday i bought jamie wilson’s 12 week body earned fitness program
you can find the program (and even a few sample workouts) on his facebook page
i always love switching things up and trying out new things. i can’t remember where i saw this program (i think it was when i was dabbling with jamie eason’s live fit program)
it was a reasonable price ($50 for 12 weeks of workouts, 1 for each day) and is something a little more different then i’ve been doing for the past couple of months
so far i’m loving it! i’ve done three of the workouts and i’m really having fun with it, never a moment to think boredom and i’m in and out of the gym in 60 minutes or less.
essentially it’s 4-5 days of circuit style weight training hitting single or double muscles mixed in with some HIIT. the program starts out with 4 days a week and gradually goes to 5 days. i’m loving it, as i’m giving my body proper rest with some incline walking on days off and it’s a nice break for a few weeks from the heavier lifting i’ve been doing.
if you’re looking for some weight lifting guidance and help i think the blog world is fabulous. there are so many people out there who offer amazingly priced services, who want to work with you on setting goals & achieving them based on your capabilities.
i can’t stress how amazing tara is!
besides working out, my kitchen has been quite busy today!
just out of the oven, hot & fresh
sweet potato protein bars
- 4 medium sweet potatoes (microwaved, skin on & mashed)
- 1/3 cup canned pumpkin
- 4 egg whites
- 1 scoop sun warrior vanilla protein powder
- 1/4 cup oats (ground into oat flour)
- 1 T baking powder
- vanilla extract, stevia, cinnamon & pumpkin pie spice
blend everything together with a mixer, then spread into a baking dish & bake at 350 for about 20-25 minutes. i’ll probably cut them up into 8 squares and have a few with egg whites for a post workout or mid morning snack!
they smell delicious and i secretly love the fact that you can still see some of the sweet potato skin!
well i’m off to shower, do some laundry & read!
come back tomorrow for an ultra fun post.
did someone say a peanut butter tasting party vlog….
love to love you <3
