a few saturday random musings
this is the best thing i’ve seen on fitness.com to date. and it’s not even the workout – it’s just the picture of the girl. she’s gorgeous and real looking. i think it’s great – she has a real shape and something that women can look at and think okay that’s a realistic body. not the stick figures who go through the moves on the guided pages
in my opinion she should be holding heavier weights – but i guess that’s another topic for another day
guess who i found yesterday!
deb! – she was in new york city just for the day yesterday – when she told me this a couple of months ago i was all about us getting together – i mean i feel like i’ve known deb for-EV-er.
her, deej, jenna & i met at bareburger in the east village and chatted for over 2 hours
i had been to bareburger once before with sara – and it was super delicious – i had ostrich and
we chatted about everything from balanced bites, to paleo, to traveling, to marriage, kids, different kinds of meats, crossfit, fitness, cruises, derek, i mean just everything – not to mention i’ll never pass up the opportunity to eat a good old ostrich burger
and just for the record – let’s set things straight here – i also told deb that she should know that i know that she is the original protein muffin creator. and don’t anyone forget it.
i love deb. i told her i’m for sure coming to visit her in palm springs ASAP.
crossfit is going fantastic.
this week i PR-ed on my ‘ass to the grass’ back squat at 115lbs for 2 reps.
i was pretty excited about this because i’ve only been at it for a few weeks which means there’s TONS of time for improvement
i’m also realizing how much i hate the row machine
i mean love-hate it. it’s hard and bitchy and i’m slow
this week i also received a package from pvbody and sported my new workout top to spin class yesterday
i wore it with green spandies to spin and it was totally un-matching – but super comfortable – lightweight and the prettiest color blue!
and it’s usually super dark in the AM when i’m getting dressed so i look much less like a pale ghost – just because of lighting – obvi.
i’m usually never a fan of tight fitting workout gear – but even though this was spandexy i didn’t mind it at all! i liked the length and it didn’t ride up – i think it’s going to be great for crossfit because it won’t ride up or move a lot during crazy WODs
i’m really a fan of the idea behind pv body – it’s a monthly delivery program of a new high quality workout outfit every month for $49.95 – the outfit is chosen based on your style profile that you fill out and they pretty much are on point with sizing & styling based on your preferences
if you’re interested in finding out more about the program or you want to sign up – you can go here & receive 20% off your first order!
on another note i’m going through a major podcast faze right now
i am totally head over heels in love with the balanced bits podcast. diane & liz are so smart & fun – they make nutrition and living just so plain and simple to understand.
listening to them has really helped me come full circle with how nutrition and our bodies should work – and why it’s all about nutrient dense real foods and finding what works best for you to give you energy & get your body on track
i’m actually contemplating attending their seminar that they’re having at a crossfit box in a town right by me in a few weeks. if anyone else in the new york/long island area is thinking of going PLEASE let me know!
welp! that’s all i’ve got for today
i’m thinking about going back to the crossfit box for open gym this afternoon to work on my cleans, and other stuff – haven’t decided yet but we’ll see!
anything good planned for the weekend?
love to love you <3

YES! That model is fab! I love seeing women with a variety of body types. What a fun meet up! You look gorg in that picture (as per usual). Congrats on the PR!!!!! I ran my half marathon this morning! As you saw ;) And tonight we're going out to an adult dinner- cannot wait. Hoping to hit up hot yoga tomorrow to relieve my muscles
ReplyDeleteNeed to check out that article, but that's great to see different types of women in magazines/articles! You are looking so fab Julie! I love the blue color of the top. Cute. I was super duper addicted to Deb's protein muffins! Loveeee them. Except now I can't have eggs, so that was a sad moment in life haha. Now I just have to re-create a just as voluminous one, but vegan. It's hard though.
ReplyDeleteOK, first of all - you look great so I don't know what you are talking about!!! Yay for heavy weights and ATG squat PRs :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, that photo of the girl on the workout site looks awesome. She doesn't have a perfectly shaped six pack....wow! It's incredible! Love it.
ReplyDeleteSo..you are pretty full blown paleo it sounds like. I haven't heard of this "balanced bits" podcast but I'm intrigued. I like simple nutrition, and fun people. I want to joint them!
BTW, you're looking great in your new sportswear!
AHHHH i love deb! and you! let's go crash her pad in PS together :)
ReplyDeleteYou may not have been super matchy, but I like the teal and green together. And the neckline on the tee is adorable!
ReplyDeleteYAY for a meetup with Deb!
