realryder spin & this week’s meal planning

lucky me – lucky me

the gym that my crossfit box is also affiliated with a state of the art spin studio – 360 cycle

image

the studio is located in the upstairs portion of the gym and is solely dedicated to spin classes that involve realryder spin bikes

realryder spin bikes are not – i repeat not your typical spin bike. they move – yes they move.

to better explain it from the realryder website:

“The RealRyder® Indoor Cycling bike is like no other indoor bike on the planet. Our unique, patented articulating frame technology lets the rider - any rider, novice to pro - fully engage their body and mind in a one-of-a-kind tactile, dynamic and functional riding experience”

sunday morning i woke up pretty excited to give this class a try – i had no idea what the class was going to be like but i figured what had i got to loose

the studio was small but packed with bikes – it was dark and the instructor was at the front with a bike and a ‘dj station’ – no really it looked like a straight dj station set-up

since you had to register for the class ahead of time – he checked everyone in and the class started promptly at 9AM

i found an empty bike – set myself up like i would in any normal spin class – and mounted the bike - i wasn’t expecting the bike to move that much but as soon as i got on i had a huge pang of attack

like whoa this thing really moves..

‘DJ mike started the music and we were off”

i’m not kidding when i tell you it was like pauly d running a spin class

it. was. awesome.

the music was blasting – we were rocking out – and the bike – well the bike was out of control

literally at some points when i had to transition from 2nd to 3rd position i thought i would fall off the bike

it was hands down the hardest spin class i’ve taken in my life.

it was a mental & physical battle because you had to focus the entire class on keeping the bike stable by using your core – and not to mention you had to take the class

there were a lot of times in 2nd and 3rd position that i couldn’t keep up because i had to focus on the bike not throwing me off!

i feel like there has to be a way to make my bike not so wobbly. i kept looking at this woman directly in front of me who’s bike was just not moving nearly as much as mine – either she was just freaking awesome at the class and owned the bike – or there’s a set-up part where you can adjust the amount of movement you want your bike to do

when the 50 minutes were up – i was freaking spent – so ready for breakfast – yet on the BIGGEST endorphin high ever – will i be back – DUH.

moving on.

this week’s meal planning:

  • sunday: spaghetti squash bolognese from practical paleo
  • monday: marinated chicken breasts in tessemae’s lemon chesapeake marinade with roasted sweet potatoes
  • tuesday: baked salmon & avocado salad
  • wednesday: dinner out with old co-workers
  • thursday: leftovers from either the chicken or salmon OR salmon cakes & roasted squash
  • friday: dinner/out with girlfriends
  • saturday: wing it

lunches/snacks will be dinner leftovers, hard boiled eggs & nuts, breakfasts will be eggs, smoothies, & winging it

i also cooked up a batch of meat & vegetable frittatas to throw in the freezer for grab & go snacks

that’s it folks!

enjoy your week!

  4. I need to get back into spinning. You've inspired me. My parents own a spinner and I Was using it for about 2-3 times a week last year, but I Stopped. It's hard! But, I was seeing results. A class wouldn't hurt either....
