like i had mentioned before – i’m not competing in the crossfit games this year – i would get too frantic about the workouts and it’s just not worth the extra stress for me
BUT that doesn’t mean that i haven’t been following OR giving the workouts a shot – on a noncompetitive just kick my own ass in the morning kind of way
i watched the live stream of two insane chicks beast it in south brooklyn wednesday night

yeahhhh brooooklyaaaaaaan.
thursday morning i was up and at ‘em to play with 13.2 before going to work
i didn’t do the first 13.1 workout – snatches make my shoulder fly out of the socket (not good) but this one i definitely knew i could manage. i’m actually a fan of box jumps!
i was feeling REALLY off thursday morning – like the beginning of ‘flu legs’ you know when you just know something is coming on. but like an idiot i went to the 6AM class and gave it a go
i had in my head that i would definitely use 65# for the shoulder to overheads – welp when i got to class i knew i wasn’t going to be able to go more than 55# so i settled on that knowing that i wasn’t on my a-game.
flu legs & box jumps do not make for a happy pair but i managed to get through the workout with 174 reps – only eating the wooden box just once.
it was a fun workout! i just wish i was feeling a little better so i could have pushed myself more!
we finished class with an abs series (not for time) of 3 rounds: toes-to-bar, ab mat sit-ups & 1 minute plank holds
i haven’t shared any of my meals lately --- which might i add have been SUPER nutritious and delicious
below: a can of salmon mixed with broccoli slaw, tomato paste, dijon mustard, & lemon juice with brussels, yellow summer squash & carrots sautéed in tessemae’s zesty ranch
below: a big fat office salad with coconut encrusted chicken fingers, avocado, tessemae’s bbq sauce & sauerkraut
below: single lady chocolate microwave treat with fresh ground whole foods almond butter
below: bacon, spinach & egg omelet cooked in coconut oil with leftover brussels & fresh strawberries (there was like a million more strawbs but girl got hungry!)
TJs roasted plantain chips handfuls consumed. so good. i like them crunchy on salads too!
below: office egg/white & turkey omelet on roasted swiss chard – cashews on the side
dinner of my life below: wild atlantic salmon marinated & baked in tessemae’s lemon chesapeake marinade on roasted broccoli & broccoli slaw with roasted carrots (in chili powder & cumin) and sauerkraut!
YUM. it’s been a pretty tasty week!

ReplyDeleteAhh I hate that daunting feeling of not feeling the best before an intense workout. You did great, though! And now I want some brussels sprouts :)
