i love brooklyn.
i do. i’m like meant to be here – i am. i’m here – i’m doing good. i was sick most of the weekend – i think i really just wore myself out with the move and going crazy with everything, etc etc. but still brooklyn? it serves me well
saturday was just delightful – i woke up – i woke up at 5 O’CLOCK IN THE MORNING. i couldn’t for the life of me fall back to sleep – i waited to sleep – i could have went to the gym but i didn’t – i wasn’t feeling too hot so i thought hmph i’m going to go back to sleep – and i didn’t – i couldn’t – i was WIDE awake.
so what’s a girl to do at 6AM?
i made coffee, settled in & read my digital subscription to the new york post. it was a delight. then about two hours later i was getting antsy and hungry so i made breakfast – in my b.e.a.YOU-tiful kitchen
the star of the meal?
lookie lookie what TJs brought up & about! i simply sauteed shredded brussels in some ghee and then added in a trader joe’s apple chicken sausage, some egg whites, sliced peppers & mushrooms. topped the big ole’ bowl off with avocado & tessemae’s hot sawce and called it a day
shortly after breakfast – and like 10,000 cups of coffee later i was getting SUPER antsy – i can’t sit too long and i was just ready to like do something – deej & grammy were coming in to spend the day in the city with us but that wasn’t for a while.
what’s a girl to do? WAKE UP THE ROOMIE. we’re going walkin’ biotch.
look at her go! we headed on down to shore promenade which is an awesome walking, bike riding, etc type place along the water – right under the verazzano bridge – and over looking
beautiful staten island (insert sarcasm)
look at my crazy eyes in the picture above! i look like a freaking psychopath on shore promenade. WATCH OUT i’m going to GET YOU. har har.
today on the other hand – today i got back into that gym-jam thang
no excuses – the gym is literally across the street. i kid you not. one day i will take a picture of my gym from my bedroom window and show you..
about crossfit? i’m taking a little while off from it – it’s intense and yes there is a box about 8 blocks down from me – crossfit bay ridge to be exact – but i just joined the gym right by me and i’m going to roll with that for a little while and see how things go
i’m actually following tara’s upper/lower split program and adding a few things in here & there or subbing in a different exercise for lack of equipment or to keep things spicy. today i did the bench press/upper day
- hang cleans (warmed up with 45lb bar – did 2 sets of 15, then did 55lbs x12, 2 sets of 65lbs for 8 reps & 2 sets of 75lbs for 6 reps) all with a push press at the end of each set
- bench press – worked up to 4 sets of 6 reps (75lbs then 1 set of 3 with 85lbs)
- hand release push-ups alternating with inverted rows (i suck at these – weaksauce mcgee)
- single arm dumbbell row (45lbs 3x 10 reps)
- upward rows (i actually used the smith machine!) i wanted to see how it would work out – it was pretty interesting! alternated the rows with face pulls (65-70lbs 3x12)
it was a great workout – i did a little stairmill HIIT at the end but nothing too crazy – just 4 minutes as hard as i could go, 1 minute rest – 3 minutes as hard as i could go, 1 minute rest, 2 minutes as hard as i could go, 1 minute rest and then 1 minute all out.
& 10,000 more cups of coffee – because well i love my brewmaster. this has been my go-to post workout breakfast lately. it’s just a sweet potato (pre-cooked) smashed up with eggs/egg whites & cooked like a pancake – i use cinnamon & vanilla extract with pinches of pumpkin pie spice to give it a little somethin’ extra
welp that’s all i’ve got for you now!
i’m off to relax, take my contacts out and find a vehicle for some serious peanut butterage
love to love you <3
