so i’m at the gym this morning, warming up, some mobility, stretching, work with a pvc pipe – getting ready to crush my legs and this middle aged woman comes up to me – grabs a 45# plate and says “you know – it’s so nice to see another girl in the bringing the ratio of women to men in the weight room up”
i looked at her, smiled and said “my thoughts exactly” as the young gentleman next to me in the squat rack performs barbell bicep curls. #petpeeves
today’s workout was kill-kill-killah
it could be because i’ve been slurping on my pimp juice like there’s no tomorrow
- back squat (bar for 1 set of warm-up reps x12, 95lbs 10 reps, 115 8 reps, 125 4x 5 reps, 135 2x 3 reps
- front foot elevated dumbbell split squat (4 x10 reps per leg – 27.5lb dumbbells) – these are SUPER deceiving – like i could barely walk for the rest of today
- superset the dumbbell split squats with straight leg dumbbell deadlifts (45lb dumbbells – 4x 10 reps)
- barbell hip thrusts (4x 10-12 135lbs) superset with 1 minute box max box jumps
- ended the workout with a pyramid of leg extensions (max reps increasing weight every 10 reps)
& then did 10 minutes of sprints – 1 minute sprint – 1 minute recovery (it was like 5-6 sprints total)
wooop. this is my post-workout favorite meal lately
i’m on a MAYJ brown rice kick lately and i just mix it with cinnamon, almond milk and a scoop of peanut flour and let it sit in the fridge for a few minutes, while i make a HUGE egg white & chicken scramble with shredded brussel sprouts, carrots & mushrooms. side of iced coffee with homemade COFFEE CUBES. yum.
OH. this weekend i ate and made some super delicious food
we’re so serious evaluating the meaty menu
we had the pickle platter to start. PICKLES!
ELK. whaaat – it could be my new favorite meat. where are you elk in local foodstores…
elk on the mexican salad which came with cool kale chips (that were totally unnecessary). deej got wild BOAR which was amazing – i snagged many a sweet potato fry.
i also made MASS amounts of food for the week just because i was bored, and really wanted to try so many recipes that i’ve pinned lately
and because i really wanted an excuse to use my brand spankin new double burner grill pan. oh em GEE i’m in love. my chicken had LE-git cue marks
i made buffalo chicken salad (minus the stuffed tomatoes part) from erica’s blog
i also made this really good cliantro lime slaw (from a magazine that i have no idea where from – i know i took a picture of it when i was in the nail salon #multitasker)
together the slaw & buffalo chicken salad were like the best flavor combo ev-AH. i can’t wait for lunch tomorrow actually
look at my MY 64OZ KOMBUCHA GROWLER!
sunday we dined like divas at a local spot that is just crazy good – paneanticos
also known as ‘paneys’ according to me & jenna – wouldn’t a show called – the world according to julie & jenna just be grand?
anyways paneys is this really delicious italian cafe & sandwich/salad shop right DOWN THE BLOCK – it’s dangerous – believe me. anyways – they make like every sandwich under the sun but not just any sandwich like FRESH italian paninis with amazing marinated grilled vegetables and balsamic for days
it’s a dream. did i mention the HUGE case of italian pastries…
OH. before i go…
two new pieces of decor for the pad…
a pineapple tree! (from trader joes obvi) and three framed maps of long island, brooklyn & manhattan (all purchased from etsy and then we bought the frames from home goods!)
so DIY of us right?
what’s new with you boo?
love to love you <3
