I gotta tell you this past week has just be cuhrazed
The weekend was jam packed with fun -- tonight is actually the first night I’ve been home all week.
Monday I was out romping (more on that later), Tuesday I had a work event, Wednesday I had class, tonight I am home, and tomorrow night I’m off to Mohegan Sun – look at me go!
I’m a very lucky girl and had a 3-day weekend this past weekend. Octobers are like a birthday bonanza in our family so I offered to host a ‘surprise’ party for James’ 30th birthday – he wasn’t surprised and it was just the family – chillin’ with chili in Bay Ridge
The food went over like a rockstar – I made a double batch of chili dog chili from my primal cravings cookbook along with brussel sprouts roasted with bacon and shallots, Deej made some baked ziti and for dessert we had ice cream cake along with Tina’s gluten free apple crisp – which was freaking delicious (and even better cold the next day because the almond meal & coconut oil become like a doughy deliciousness)
Sunday night – after everyone left Deejy doodles put on her new pajamas and her, Jenna and I had our first sleepover in Bay Ridge!
Mainly Deej just slept on the couch and we all passed the eff out
Sunday bright & early we had an adventure on the agenda
We got up early, geared up, grabbed some Starbies and headed upstate
Destination: Bear Mountain
Apparently during the Fall season Bear Mountain has an Oktoberfest every weekend at their Inn – Jen and I have been dying to do a Bear Mountain hike so we figured booze + climbing = a stellar combination
We took the hour 1/2 drive upstate – climbing climbing climbing – not really realizing we were actually driving the hike…
Finally we made it to the top!
The views were just breathtaking and a total oasis away from the real world – the air was so fresh – I seriously could have stayed up there forever and ever and ever
Jen was so nervous about my jumping pics – I had some people giggling – anything for the shot –right?
Attempting yoga on a rock
look who I found!
I even found a praying mantis!
I know they’re endangered but I swore if that thing jumped into my face I was going to murder it…
It’s really amazing what a good day in the outdoors can do for your body, mind & soul – I wish I lived closer to where I could make hiking & outdoor exploring more of a part of my life – sadly I’ll be a city girl for life.
After we were done with our mountain photo shoot we headed over to the Bear Mountain Inn for the Oktoberfest activities
the festival wasn’t much of a festival – it was actually just a tiny strip of craft vendors, like 2 stands of ‘oktoberfest food’ which was sponsored by Nathan’s (uh what?) and then a tent with some musicians.
We made the best of it & the glorious weather – grabbed some booze and chilled by the lake for about an hour or so
Eventually us ladies got a wee bit hungry – we weren’t feeling the ‘traditional’ Nathans so we decided to explore the little towns on the way out and find a place to eat then
MORE jump shots!
this is right after a little focker kid decided to rock me with a soccer ball – wide open field – me & him and he aims right for me
bye bye Bear Mountain!
after Bear Mountain we stopped for lunch at a little mom & pop type deli – then we headed back to the Ridge, treated ourselves to pedis & hit up Panneys for dinner – it was divine.
I seriously cannot wait to get back to the mountain – we have plans to have a real hike sometime soon – not just driving to the top and jumping around on rocks – but that’s for another day
oh by the way…HAPPY 22ND BIRTHDAY TO MY ROOMIE!!!
love to love you <3
