WOW it’s been over a week
how are you? I’ve been okay! Work has been so busy lately I’ve just barely had time to think about anything else
I have to be honest with you that I’ve been MIA for the past week because I’ve been dealing with some health issues
no not the ones I discussed before but new ones. OY.
I’ve been out of commission for a little over 2 weeks now – I took some time off from the gym to give my mind & body a break and then just as soon as I thought I would be back to he normal me I came down with an awful infection while simultaneously dealing with some severe right-side abdominal pains
I thought the medication that the doctor prescribed me for the infection would kick the stomach pains but even though I was feeling better – I wasn’t feeling better.
Last week I had an ultrasound & then did a breathe test – they wanted to test for something wrong with the kidneys, gallbladder, appendix, pancreas & ulcers.
Everything came back with okay results – which is great – but it didn’t take away the extreme pain
In a nutshell I have been having severe pains in the right side of my abdomen – feels like a constant stabbing pain and then occasional sharp pains up my side. I’ve been nauseous for over a month (choose to ignore it) until the serious pain came along, I have no appetite and constant pain that just gets worse over the course of the day. Two nights ago I had the worst indigestion of my life – basically woke up on the hour every hour with serious heartburn – last night was my breaking point.
Finally I made an appointment for Tuesday with a gastro specialist – the pain was at it’s worst last night and I just felt scared about waiting until Tuesday to see someone
SO bad in fact that I went to the ER this morning because the stomach pains and nausea were just unbearable
The ER is honestly so surreal – I was there for about 5 hours this morning – they did lots of tests and everything came back fine
SO here I am – home – still in pain – still nauseous but diagnosed with nothing serious.
I am keeping my appointment for Tuesday with the GI doctor but this whole process is so frustrating.
I feel like I’ve spent the entire month of October visiting every doctor across the board and for someone who makes it a point to care for themselves I’m just at my breaking point. I want to feel well – I am dying to feel 100% – I know I won’t feel like this forever but it’s the most frustrating and mentally exhausting month of my life.
THANK GOD it’s November 1st!
I have many things to be thankful for – believe me I’m thrilled it wasn’t an emergency situation but still it’s frustrating – the pain – no answers and not feeling like me.
I need my shining light back ASAP.
SO back to the fun stuff…
last weekend in a few moments of non pain me and my lady friends hit this great outdoor food vendor festival in downtown Brooklyn Heights
smorgasburg is a weekend festival that moves from Williamsburg (on Saturdays) to DUMBO (on Sundays)
it’s about 75-100 local food specialty shops that post up and serve up their best
the Pier in Brooklyn Heights is amazing – it’s right on the river and the day was gorgeous (a little chilly!) but perfection for snuggling up in some weird gear and beasting on food
there’s SO much good food to try so it’s a little stressful- you really want to eat everything but you pay by vendor so your wallet restricts your food intake.
my stops included: chicken skewers from inglorivs yakitorevs, an organic beef hot dog with kimchee & nori strips from asia dog, sesame spread from Brooklyn Sesame (which I bought a jar of and I’m OBSESSED), and a chicken, green apple & goat cheese burger from bassanova chix burger
there was also dosas, iced coffee, spring rolls, cheese dogs, grilled cheese, and the BIGGEST ice cream sandwhich I’ve ever seen in my life
Lisa & her sandwich burger (as I liked to call it)
it was SUCH a great afternoon – we ate – walked around, chilled by the water, you know the usual sunday afternoon..
what have you been up to lately?
LOVE to love you <3
